The Department's 2009 Connected Learning Conference: Transforming Learning and Teaching will be held on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 July 2009 at the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach hotel.
The Conference will focus on a range of issues critical to positive learning outcomes for students such as the use of digital and interactive technologies and curriculum options across communities of schools. Key strategies such as the NSW Quality Teaching model will also be highlighted.
The Conference will feature keynote addresses (click here) from academics and practitioners in the field who will explore these issues and ways of integrating collaborative technologies in teaching and learning. The conference will also feature a schools showcase, a regional showcase, and a wide range of workshops and student participation throughout the two days. Why Connected Learning?
Information and communication technologies (ICT) have transformed the way we live. In education – as in other parts of life – new technologies bring new opportunities but also new demands.
The Connected Learning Conference is an opportunity to:
- explore innovative current practice in using collaborative technologies to enhance learning and teaching
- consider research findings on effective integration of ICT into the classroom to engage students and transform learning and teaching
- explore how young people interact with technology and the potential for knowledge growth through innovation and creativity
Who should attend?
Teachers, executive and leaders from schools, TAFE campuses, regions and state offices who are interested in exploring the use of collaborative technologies in a broad range of teaching and learning contexts.
General Information
Early registration will be available in the hotel foyer from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm on Monday 20 July 2009.
The main registration will be available on three tables designated alphabetically in the upstairs lobby area of the hotel from 7.30 am to 8.45 am on Tuesday 21 July 2009.
Each delegate will receive a lanyard, ID pouch and a conference satchel.
Refreshments
Refreshments will be provided on arrival (Tuesday) from 8 am to 8.45 am. Morning and afternoon teas and lunch will be provided on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Included in the registration is a reception being held at the conclusion of Day One, 21 July 2009. Delegates will be provided with refreshments and finger food at this informal part of the program which will facilitate opportunities for further networking and reflection.
